PASTOR'S AID MINISTRY

 Purpose: "For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due." Romans 13:6-7a

The purpose of the pastor's aid ministry is to provide moral, spiritual and financial support to the pastor and first lady. Planning and coordinating all activities associated with the Pastor’s Anniversary.

CHURCH BULLETINS AND PRINTING MINISTRY

Ministry Leader:  *Brenda Crews

Purpose:  “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us.  And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3

This ministry is to prepare and dispatch to the usher ministry church bulletins/ programs for scheduled worship services at the church.  Literature, in addition to Sunday morning worship services may be included etc.

COUPLE'S MINISTRY (THE TWO SHALL BE ONE)

Ministry Leader(s):

Purpose: “ And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:23-24  

1) To deepen the relationship of husbands and wives with each other and with Christ 2) To provide mutual spiritual support for all couples within the ministry 3) to bring together families in the church 4) to bring unsaved spouses into the church 5) to provide a social outlet for couples. To achieve these goals, the ministry will utilize family and group seminars, couples' Bible study and prayer sessions, confidential experience sharing sessions, spiritual and lay speakers, social activities, and spiritual retreats.  Mission: The Evans Grove Baptist Church Couples Ministry will show forth the love of Christ, develop the power of this love to deepen one's personal relationship with Christ, strengthen marriages and strengthen the family union.

DEACON'S MINISTRY

Ministry Leader: *Unified Board

Purpose: “Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.” Acts 6:1-6, I Timothy 3:8-13, and Titus 1:6-9

The deacon body shall serve under the leadership of the pastor and assist him in performing duties in order to free him for the ministry of the Word. The deacons will support and work with the pastor as follows:  1)to lead the church in the achievement of its mission, 2) to minister the gospel to believers and unbelievers 3) to care for the church's members and others in the community, 4) to have a consistent commitment to stewardship that shall be attested to by the deacon's example of tithing to the church, 5) to demonstrate Christ-like consecration, loyalty, prayer support and faithfulness to the local church program, 6) to visit the sick, needy and indifferent of the church 7) to encourage and strengthen new converts and the spiritually weak, 8) to attend deacon's meetings regularly, 9) to be available with his wife at worship services for assisting the pastor in receiving new members. Training sessions will be offered to acquaint everyone with the procedures to follow.

"FAITH STEPPERS"

Faith Steppers - young Christians who walk by faith and not by sight. Our steps are ordered by God.

Purpose:  To uplift our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by not dancing, but stepping and lifting up Holy hands. Our name basically sums up our meaning. 

FINANCE MINISTRY

Ministry Leader(s):  *Cynthia Parker

Purpose:  “For God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”  2 Corinthians 9:7-8    

This ministry is to act as financial consultant for the church body and make recommendations regarding investment funds and budgetary items, and give information and advice concerning disbursement of funds. Other duties include but are not limited to counting and recording all monies collected during worship services and at other large gatherings when an offering is collected.

HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

Ministry Leader(s): 

Purpose: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”…1 Corinthians 15:58

The hospitality/courtesy ministry is dedicated to welcoming guests to Evans Grove Baptist Church. This ministry is very instrumental in making the initial impression of the church, as members of this ministry are often the first congregates our guest’s encounter. During the intimacy of information gathering, the guests have an opportunity to experience the warmth of Evans Grove members.

KITCHEN MINISTRY

Purpose: “They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.” Acts 2:46-47

The purpose and responsibility of this ministry is to provide service and assistance to the church family during fellowship dinners. Service includes planning of menus, preparation and set up of food and eating areas, and the coordination of the clean up staff after completion of meals or refreshments. Other duties include the purchase of kitchen supplies and utensils for use during gatherings.

MISSIONARY MINISTRY

Purpose: “He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’ Luke 10:2

The purpose and responsibility of the missionary ministry is to address the spiritual and material needs of the church and the community. This ministry includes the men, women, and children of the Evans Grove Baptist Church family. Other duties include home visitation to the sick members of the church, visitation to residents in the local nursing homes and oversee of the church's food pantry and clothing closet.

MUSIC MINISTRY

Purpose: "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord [is] a great God, and a great King above all gods." Psalm 95: 1-3

NEW MEMBERS

Purpose:    Jesus said, “Do you love me?  Tend my lambs…feed my sheep.”  John 21: 15-16        

This ministry is to facilitate the maximum retention and development of members when they unite with the Evans Grove Church family. This ministry will establish a program that will follow each new member for a period of three months, which includes orientation and transition. This ministry will also guide new members into a Church School Bible Class and encourage them to become active in some organization of the church.

OUTREACH/EVANGELISM MINISTRY

Purpose: “Come follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” Mark 1:17.

The evangelism ministry is believers committing themselves everyday as opportunity permits to allow the Holy Spirit that lives within each believer to direct them in sharing with others what God did for the world through His Son Jesus Christ. Mission: We desire to be a part of an evangelistic community of believers empowering every person to do service for Jesus Christ. We strive to embrace the mission of going to people everywhere, making disciples of them, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to obey everything Jesus commands. We also desire to be comfortable and equipped when leading the lost to Jesus our Savior.  We desire to help train other believers in sharing the Good News message.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MINISTRY

Purpose: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." II Timothy2:15(KJV)

To provide an opportunity to hear God's Word, to hear God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ, to study God's Word and learn how to apply it to daily life

Adult Division

Through life-changing Bible study, adults grow closer to God and to those in their small group or class.

Children's Division

Dedicated teachers lead children in Bible study and learning activities to apply Bible truths to their lives. These experiences benefit the children both spiritually and socially.

Preschool Division

Little children learn Bible truths through interaction with loving teachers, pictures, music, group play, hands-on learning, and age-appropriate Bible stories and other activities.

Ministry Leader(s): *

Purpose: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17

The vision of the Technology Ministry is to increase the visibility of Evans Grove Missionary Baptist Church ministries in the community. The purpose and responsibility of this ministry is to oversee the operation, maintenance, and security of the sound system. The chairperson must ensure that all members are trained to operate the system and maintain a schedule for Sunday services and other scheduled services coordinate various technical related IT services(i.e., church website events, and services).

Ministry Leader(s): *Trustee Jermaine Daniels

Purpose:  “The carpenters, the builders and the masons.  Also have them purchase timber and dressed stone to repair the temple.” 2 Kings 22:6

The purpose and responsibility of the trustee ministry is to serve as stewards who hold in trust for the Evans Grove membership, the material possessions that have been accrued by the church. The trustees are responsible for titles to all real estate, maintenance or improvement of existing church property, including disbursement of funds for minor maintenance, make suggestions and recommendations concerning major repairs and upkeep of church buildings, as well as interact with other committees within the church to assure the safe keeping of the church's assets and properties.

USHER MINISTRY

Purpose: "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness." Psalms 84:10

The usher ministry is responsible for greeting and seating thecongregation at regular services and at other times when large gatherings are held in the church. Receive the offering during regular and scheduled worship services. Other duties include welcoming members and visitors as they enter to worship, serving as liaison between the pastor and the congregation, and attending to the general needs of the worshippers.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY (WOMEN OF PURPOSE)

Purpose: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” You are His masterpiece and you are perfect in His sight!” Ephesians 2:10

The ultimate purpose of the fellowships is to empower women to seek and fulfill their true God- given purposes in life. The mission of Women of Purpose fellowship ministries is to provide a safe haven of home fellowships where women are exhorted to know God more intimately and experience the true power of salvation through Jesus Christ.

YOUTH MINISTRY

Purpose: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Our purpose is to equip youth disciples for ministry so that they may fulfill Christ's great commission to go into the world and do likewise. To achieve that purpose, we are committed to the following principles.  Mission:  We have a vision for a vibrant youth fellowship that is serious about praising and worshiping the Lord. We don't pay lip service; we love Jesus. We are not along for the ride; we want to drive. We are not content to let the world around us wallow in darkness; we are willing to go into the darkness to shine the light of Jesus Christ. We are willing to step out of our comfort zones and sacrifice ourselves for His sake. We will take up our cross daily and follow where Christ leads. We are a group of disciples who will evangelize to others and make disciples for Jesus Christ.
